Profile
The Piccadilly Dance Orchestra presents in its' inimitable
style, an all new celebration of the Golden Age of the Hollywood Musical.
From Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers to Dick Powell and Ruby Keeler,
Hollywood brought us, for one brief shining moment, some of the greatest
songs ever written. From the Charleston and Puttin' On The Ritz of
the 1920's through to swing hits of the 1930's and 1940's such as
Glen Miller's In The Mood, The Piccadilly Dance Orchestra play the
greatest dance music and the best tunes of the Jazz Age, including
songs by Gershwin, Irving Berlin and Cole Porter. The PDO are superb
entertainment to a very high standard, sought after for concert and
caberet performances as well as private parties and corporate events.
The orchestra has played for the Savoy Hotel's highly successful Stomping
at the Savoy evenings since 1997, has often performed on BBC radio
and television and has released five albums. Hollywood Party and A
Marvellous Party, two of the orchestra's concert programmes, were
launched at the Queen Elizabeth's Halls to sold out houses and are
now touring the UK with, Sheridan Morley as narrator.
